WELCOME TO
HARRY COTTRELL RACING

Hello everyone, I’m Harry and here is a little bit about me & my passion for motorsport.

I have been karting since I was 5 years old, my Dad (Chris) used to take me to Westonzoyland Airfield WHERE I would spend all day going around & around in all weather conditions. When I turned 7 we traveLed to Clay Pigeon Raceway in Dorchester, and I drove on a track for the first time. On my 8th Birthday I got a new kart, it was a project one kart with a faster engine, I loved it and was hooked.

MY PASSION TO GO FASTER…

NOW HOOKED ON karting, I started to go to the track as often as possible with my new kart, and my lap times started getting better and improving every time.  In 2019 AT THE AGE OF 10, I TOOK PART IN MY first IKR race at Clay. At first it didn’t go to well, I went on to the grass on the first corner and crashed into the Tyre wall! – HOWEVER I came back in the next race and finished the day on a high!

I competed in many IKR races at the start of 2020 and then COVID hit! This put a stop to karting for 3 months.  When I returned I was faster than ever and my Dad upgraded my chassis. This allowed me to race at MSUK level. I passed my ARKS test in July and I am now completing my 5 novice races, So, next year I can race at the front in MSUK races at Clay Pigeon and Nigel Mansell Raceway, Dunkerswell.

I am a members of both tracks as they are both very challenging but different, this will improve my racing and prepare me for a competitive season.

I see many of the Formula 1 drivers as my idols, I enjoy learning about racing and also the engineering side of karting, I enjoy learning about the dynamics and mechanical side of karting. I am inspired by the drivers and one day would like to compete at a Formula level, as a professional driver.

2021 – What a year…

Wow! What a year this has been, 2021 as moved at a fast pace, we have new sponsors and are now part of a motorsport team.

Passion Motorsport are a newly developed Karting team, of whom race across the UK. The team principle is an ex British Champion driver Connor Mills. Connor and Harry have been working on Harry’s development in karting, including race craft and driving skills. This support can be extremely expensive as Harry progresses his racing career, Harry really does need this continuous coaching, to keep competitive and to move up the grid. We applied to The Freddie Pring Memorial Fund in December 2020, and successfully received financial grants to help with Harrys development as a driver, the fund has taken us to the next level giving us the confidence to enter a National Competition.

Harry entered the Super One Championship this year and his first race was in June in North Wales, this is a National Championship where the races are all over the UK. These races are live steamed on the internet and attract large crowds of competitors and spectators all over the UK, so are great for advertising, networking and simply making yourself known. We finished the Championship in a solid third position which was amazing for our first year at a national level.

Harry has also moved to Rotax Minimax ,driving in a new bigger Kart with speeds capable of 70 mph, so it has been challenging but also exciting for Harry again this year. We would like the thank David Taylor, Ben Wilson West Quantoxhead Garage , Lee Sawatzki, Mark Phippen, Maitland Walker LLP and the Freddie Pring Memorial Fund for there help this year, with out his support it would have been a struggle.

Looking forward to 2022 we have entered the super one national championship and are going to take part in the NKC championship and also club racing at Clay Pigon Kart and Mansel Race Way, looking forward to seeing you on track ,in the crowd or on our social media feed
